Cryptocurrency firm StormX will hold its first-ever invitational poker tournament in partnership with PokerGo.

The crypto company has announced an invite-only poker event featuring personalities from various fields, including basketball icons, crypto pioneers and pro poker players.

Among those set to appear are Nascar driver Landon Cassill, NBA stars Paul Pierce and Michael Carter-Williams, as well as poker pros Tom Dwan and Maria Ho.

All 81 participants will compete for an expected prize pool of $500,000 at the PokerGo Studio in Las Vegas’ Aria Resort & Casino on 3 March 2022. The tournament has a $5,000 buy-in, with a one-time optional $5,000 rebuy.

StormX said this will be the first of many tournaments organised in partnership with PokerGo. It will be livestreamed on the crypto company’s website, YouTube and across social media.

“We’re excited to host the first of many events that bring together a wide range of entrepreneurs, investors, poker pros and celebrities to create an enjoyable event that will be streamed globally,” said Simon Yu, StormX Co-Founder and CEO.

A portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated to various Miami charities with, according to StormX, “the mission to increase financial and crypto literacy in the region.”

StormX offers crypto cashback through its app and Chrome extension, as well as an upcoming physical debit card.

The firm was recently named the exclusive cryptocurrency partner of PokerGo in a multi-year deal that gave it branding rights and commercial involvement across the poker franchise’s global portfolio. This includes various events that are part of the PokerGo Tour.
