CasinoGrounds has investigated which states have the best support for problem gambling and gambling addiction. Following analysis, Nevada, which is also the top gambling state in the US, came out on top.

CasinoGrounds gave a score out of 10 for a range of factors based around the popularity of gambling, the presence of a problem, the number of treatment facilities and the amount of funding allocated towards the issue.

Thanks to the gambling opportunities in Las Vegas, the data shows that Nevada has the best support for those suffering from gambling addiction. At 2.7%, the state has the country’s fifth-highest percentage of people suffering with a gambling problem, but it also provides the most treatment facilities of any state.

This includes 123 gamblers' anonymous meetings per week, as well as support from state affiliate associations to the NCPG and other state-specific agencies.

Oregon was rated the second-best state for supporting gambling addiction. Another popular state for gambling, Oregon comes in sixth place for a problem gambling presence at 2.6%. However, the state has the second-highest spending on treating problem gambling at $1.41 per capita.

In third place was Connecticut, containing just a 1.1% problem gambling percentage. The state has both state affiliations and specific agencies providing support. In addition, it spends $0.90 per capita on supporting the addiction.

Fourth and fifth were given to Michigan and Massachusetts, with 0.5% and 1.7% of the adult populations reportedly suffering from a gambling addiction.

The states with the least support went to Hawaii, Utah and Alaska, explained by the fact that all three have a legal ban on gambling. However, Idaho and Arkansas came 48th and 49th due to a lack of spending on problem gambling treatment and a lack of supportive facilities.
