The Netherlands’ Gaming Authority, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has issued a cease and desist order, instructing Gammix to prevent Dutch consumers from accessing its websites or else face a potential multimillion-euro fine.

An investigation was conducted in March that discovered two Gammix websites, rantcasino.com and nordslot.com, were accessible to Dutch players.

At the time, it was possible for Dutch consumers to create a player account, make a deposit and participate in “games of chance,” despite neither website having been granted the requisite licence.

A follow-up investigation was then conducted in May that found no technical measures had been taken to prevent Dutch players from doing so, and that the websites were “partly aimed at the Dutch market.”

By offering unlicensed gaming to Dutch customers, Gammix is acting in violation of the Netherlands’ Gambling Act, stated the KSA. Alongside rantcasino.com and nordslot.com, four other websites were also found to have violated the Act: dbosses.com, crazeplay.com, flamingcasino.com and touchcasino.com.

Unlicensed gaming means supervision is not possible, said the KSA, which means “there is no control over, among other things, the fairness of the game and whether sufficient attention is paid to addiction prevention.”

The regulator said: “The board of directors of the Gaming Authority instructs Gammix Limited to cease offering games of chance for which no licence has been granted under the Gambling Act by imposing an order subject to penalty.”

If Gammix fails to comply, it will have to pay €1.47m per week, up to a maximum penalty of almost €4.5m. An appeal can be lodged against this decision.
