It is a six-year deal between the two groups, with a five-year right to extend.

Through the agreement, Kindred and Swinomish will launch the Unibet & Swinomish Sportsbook at Swinomish Casino & Lodge, pending all necessary licensure and regulatory approvals.

Once operational, Washington will mark the seventh US state in which Unibet is live with its sportsbook product. Kindred noted that it will continue to invest in growing its US operations where market conditions support a sustainable business model.

“We are very excited to expand our footprint in the US, and to do so together with the Swinomish tribe,” said SVP of North America Kindred Group Manuel Stan.

“The opening of a Sportsbook Lounge at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge will allow us to offer best in class sports betting experience.”

State lawmakers legalised wagering in 2020, with the Snoqualmie tribal casino becoming the first property in Washington to offer retail betting in September 2021.

Those wishing to wager in the state must do so in person at a tribal casino or otherwise be on tribal land to make a mobile bet.

Earlier this month, Kindred was granted a temporary reprieve in Norway, with the country’s gambling regulator Lotteritilsynet deciding to “pause” a NOK 1.2m ($112,414) daily fine. In 2019, Kindred’s Maltese subsidiary Trannel was accused of allowing Norwegian customers to gamble, in violation of the country’s strict monopoly.

Last month, in connection with Capital Markets Day, the company presented new financial targets for 2025, including revenue of above £1.6bn ($1.84bn).
