Furthermore, AG Communications – which trades under the name Aspire Global – will also receive an official warning, as well as having certain conditions added to its operating licence.

The Commission found that the supplier had failed to demonstrate that it had carried out due diligence checks on six third-party businesses it had partnered with.

Several operators in the UK have faced punitive action for a variety of failures from the Gambling Commission.

In September, Betfred was fined £2.87m for anti-money laundering and social responsibility failures, while it too was warned officially by the UK regulator.

Leanne Oxley, Gambling Commission Director of Enforcement and Intelligence, said of the failings: “This is a further example of us taking action to investigate and sanction alarming failures.

“We expect this gambling business and all other licensees to review this case and look closely to see if they need to make further improvements to demonstrate active compliance. Where standards do not improve, tougher enforcement will follow.”

Meanwhile, LeoVegas was also hit with a £1.32m fine back in August for social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures – as well as an official warning from the Commission.

Oxley commented on the action, saying: "We identified this through focused compliance activity, and we will continue to take action against other operators if they do not learn the lessons our enforcement work is providing.”
