The meeting had the aim of establishing support for the Ghana Lottery sector and discussed potential knowledge-sharing initiatives between the MGA and Ghanaian regulators.

The party from Ghana met with the MGA to make use of its experience, and better strike a balance between regulatory objectives and the needs of the sector in Ghana.

During the meeting, the MGA was given a snapshot of the performance of the Ghanaian lottery, the challenges it faces and how change might be implemented in the future.

In turn, the Ghanaian delegation was provided oversight of how the MGA regulates, and the responsible gaming measures it employs.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue collaborating and set up tailor-made workshops to assist Ghana’s National Lottery Authority in planning the necessary changes to its regulatory makeup.

The meeting was attended by Ghana’s High Commissioner to Malta, HE Barbara Akoukor Benisa, alongside the Ghana National Lottery Authority delegation.

Malta Gaming Authority Chief Officer of Policy & International Affairs, Kinga Warda, said: “We welcome such opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing initiatives with other regulators and industry stakeholders.

“Increased collaboration results in greater efficacy in supervising a safe and responsible gaming environment across the board.”

This week also saw the MGA cancel three iGaming licences. One licence cancellation was for Morpheus Games, which has failed to pay a regulatory fine, another was for M-Hub Gaming, which also failed to deliver on financial obligations and a third was for eGaming Lab, which failed to respond to a regulatory request.
