International Game Technology (IGT) has signed a patent cross-licensing agreement with Novomatic Digital Gaming and Entertainment division Greentube.

IGT signs patent cross-licensing agreement with Greentube

The agreement includes valuable patents related to remote game server (RGS) technologies for providing games over a network. The financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

Through the deal, IGT can now offer the industry a patent licence to the combined RGS portfolios of IGT and Greentube.

“This agreement continues the spirit of collaboration and innovation that IGT seeks to foster in our industry,” said IGT CEO Global Gaming Renato Ascoli.

“We look forward to providing the entire gaming industry with the opportunity to license the combined RGS portfolios of IGT and Greentube which cover compelling technologies for delivering games to customers wherever they play.”

IGT noted that both groups will continue their efforts to protect their intellectual property – individually and through collaborations with suppliers and developers – in a bid to advance innovation and excitement in the gaming market.

Greentube CEO Thomas Graf commented: “We are very pleased to reach this significant intellectual property agreement with IGT, as Greentube continues to expand its premium gaming products and solutions.

“The combined RGS portfolios of Greentube and IGT are truly state-of-the-art, representing a combined prowess and gaming industry leadership that is well-positioned to fuel continued success.”

Earlier this week, Greentube acquired a controlling share in the iGaming management system and platform provider Alteatec. The deal specifically sees Greentube Austria acquire a majority stake in the Malta-based IT company, providing it access to Alteatec’s Olympus One platform technology.

Furthermore, Greentube will be able to use Alteatec’s live dealer streaming and voiceover technology as part of the deal.
