The operator, which runs the Treasury Casino in Brisbane and the Star Gold Coast, entered a guilty plea to seven charges brought against it under the Casino Control Act of 1982.

According to Attorney General Shannon Fentiman, the charges were in relation to Section 66 of the Act, which prohibits using a credit card to buy casino chips.

“The Queensland Government is committed to ensuring Queensland casinos are operated lawfully, ethically and in a way that maintains the highest standards of integrity and public confidence.”

The offences took place between 23 March 2022, and 2 April 2022, as well as between 2 June 2017 and 29 December 2018.

In October, the Star was issued a AU$100m (US$62m) fine, although it was allowed to retain its licence.

After Adam Bell delivered his report into the casino’s multiple failings, which saw the company linked to organised crime and money laundering, the NSW Independent Casino Commission (NICC) has originally found that The Star was unfit to hold a licence.

A casino spokesman stated that as the case is still pending in court, it would be improper to comment.

Ivan Toney, a professional football player, recently admitted to breaking Football Association (FA) betting laws in England. As a result, the Brentford striker may now be subject to a long suspension from the game.

He was accused of violating betting regulations 232 times in November 2022 and 30 more times the following month. His acceptance comes before his appearance before a disciplinary panel.
