Nevada May revenue reaches $1.28bn for 27th month in a row
The Nevada Gaming Control Board has released its numbers for May 2023.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board has released its May 2023 revenue report, showing that the state made $1.28bn over the course of the month.
This signifies the 27th month in a row that the state has surpassed the billion-dollar mark.
When compared to May 2022, this revenue shows a slight decrease of 1%. The small decrease was reflected around the state, with most counties and regions noticing a mild decrease in revenue when compared to May 2022.
As can be seen from the below graph, this is the second-largest amount of revenue produced in Nevada this year, behind March with $1.31bn in revenue.
Sparks in Washoe County saw a year-on-year increase with a 9% rise from May 2022. The Reno, Boulder Strip and Laughlin areas all also produced an increase in revenue, with the overall revenue in Washoe County increasing by 4% compared to May last year.
The biggest change came from North Lake Tahoe, which saw a 20% fall in revenue from May 2022.
For the fiscal year from 1 July 2022 to 31 May 2023, gaming win has increased by 4%.
Unsurprisingly, the majority of this revenue came from casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, producing $716m, a 2% decrease from May 2022.
The state collected $84m in percentage fees for May 2023, a 1.69% decrease from May 2022.
This year it was reported that Nevada could soon lift its ban on state lotteries. This comes as Senate lawmakers gave the proposed legislation a second look.
