West Virginia has joined New Jersey, Delaware, Michigan and Nevada as part of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA). The agreement will allow online poker players to play against all others in states participating in the agreement, which according to West Virginia Lottery Director John Myers "will greatly increase the potential pool of participants and thus allow our players to play for bigger winnings."

A representative of the state expressed interest in joining MSIGA back in October, having stated: “We’ve had discussions and at the appropriate time, we will make an application to join the compact.”

Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement is a Delaware-based corporation that oversees those involved in the agreement. Michigan, Nevada and West Virginia offer online poker while Delaware and New Jersey have the ability to add full online gaming on top of online poker offerings.

MSIGA was first introduced in 2014 in Nevada and Delaware. Later in 2017, New Jersey was added to the agreement, with Michigan being added last year.

For iGaming providers in West Virginia wishing to offer multi-state poker services, they will be required to submit a letter of intent to the West Virginia Lottery, which will need to be approved both by the state and other member states before getting the green light.

On West Virginia's induction into MSIGA, Myers also said: 'I am pleased that our West Virginia iGaming providers will now have the opportunity to offer multi-state poker to our players."

MSIGA is unique to the US, with no current multi-jurisdiction iGaming membership available in places like the European Union.
