Gaming content provider Oddsworks, which is licensed by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), has requested Continent 8 Technologies to conduct a comprehensive regulatory security compliance audit and Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Test (VAPT) in Pennsylvania.

The audit request builds on Oddswork’s existing hosting relationship across several states like New Jersey and Michigan.

Continent 8 executed the audit and VAPT through its dedicated cybersecurity division, C8 Secure.

The audit examined Oddsworks' cybersecurity provisions, aligning with PGCB requirements, including the procurement and implementation of security solutions like IDS/IPS, virtual machine protocols, anti-virus and malware systems, vulnerability scanning and robust log management solutions.

This collaboration resulted in an audit process completed by Continent 8's specialist team within eight weeks, uncovering vulnerabilities beyond the audit's scope. The audit and VAPT reports were submitted to the PGCB, subsequently receiving regulatory approval.

Patrick Gardner, Managing Partner at C8 Secure, said: “Cybersecurity is a hot topic in the online and land-based gaming industry and Oddsworks are an example of a company that is prioritising cybersecurity.

"Having cybersecurity provisions in place is not only a must when it comes to protecting the organisation, but also when it comes to compliance. Pennsylvania is setting the standard when it comes to protecting the iGaming market.”

Steven De Mar, EVP at Oddsworks, added: “At Oddsworks, we are taking cybersecurity seriously – the industry is under attack. Continent 8 has done an incredible job at supporting us through our cybersecurity audit in the state of Pennsylvania. We were impressed by the speed at which the audit was planned, undertaken and reported on, as well as its scope and depth.”

This engagement marks the next milestone for Continent 8, which recently opened a data centre site in Curaçao and expanded in the US market by adding new sites across five states.
