BGC sponsors Leicester Racecourse Veterans’ Day

The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has announced its sponsorship of the second annual Leicester Racecourse Veterans’ Day, scheduled for 8 March.

The event, aimed at raising funds for various military charities, serves as a platform to honour and recognise the contributions of veterans to the nation.

As part of its sponsorship, the BGC will support the BGC Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Handicap Chase. Veterans attending the event will be honoured as guests.

The BGC’s decision to sponsor Leicester Racecourse Veterans’ Day is part of its ongoing efforts to support veterans and military charities.

Over the years, BGC members have collectively donated nearly £750,000 ($961,772) to armed forces charities, including The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, SAS Regimental Association, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and the RAF Benevolent Fund.

BGC Chairman Brigid Simmonds OBE said: “As a very proud former Captain in the Women’s Royal Army Corps, it gives me enormous pleasure that the Betting and Gaming Council is able to once again sponsor Veterans’ Day at Leicester Racecourse this week, giving us another fantastic opportunity to salute this nation’s special ex-Forces community to salute this nation’s special Veterans Forces community.”

The BGC’s sponsorship of Leicester Racecourse Veterans’ Day is part of its support for horseracing, which generated around £380m through sponsorship, media rights and the levy last year.

In recent months, the BGC has responded to various regulatory developments, including the introduction of stake limits for online slot games, with the aim of improving player protections while urging caution to avoid unintended consequences.
