The Dutch Gaming Authority (KSA) has provided clarity on the implementation timeline for the new Responsible Gaming Policy Rules following their announcement earlier this month. These rules are set to be published in June, with specific dates now confirmed for providers to adhere to.
According to the KSA, the majority of the policy rules will take effect immediately on 3 June 2024. This includes the bulk of the amendments outlined in the Responsible Gaming Policy Rules. There are, however, a few exceptions to this timeline.
Article 3.1.12 and Article 3.1.13 of the consultation version of the Responsible Gaming Policy Rules will have a delayed implementation date of 1 October 2024, for example.
These articles focus on the analysis and recording of playing behaviour, as well as interventions in playing behaviour.
The KSA has provided this extension to allow providers ample time to make any necessary adjustments in areas such as information and communication technology, policy formulation and personnel training.
The KSA also noted that there may be minor alterations to the articles in response to feedback received during the consultation period.
Earlier this month, the KSA also imposed a penalty on Casbit Group NV for offering illegal games of chance on the lala.bet website.
The penalty was given with the intention of stopping Casbit from offering online casino games without a licence, with the KSA stating: “Strict rules and regulations apply to offering games of chance with a permit."
