Swedish Gaming Authority bans MRSL NV from providing unlicensed games

MRSL NV joins several other banned companies in Sweden.

Spelinspektionen, the Swedish Gaming Authority, has banned MRSL NV from providing games without the necessary licence to players in Sweden.

In a statement, the regulator explained: “We prioritise measures that contribute to gambling taking place with operators who have a Swedish gambling licence.”

MRSL NV joins a growing list of operators banned in Sweden for infringements to Swedish regulation, including Equinox Dynamic, Alpha Interactive Solutions and Nero Media among many others.

The Swedish Gaming Authority also has a list of rescinded ban decisions, which includes companies such as Rebels Gaming and Gammix Limited. Notably, Gammix Limited was fined almost €19.7m ($21.3m) by the Danish Gaming Authority (KSA) in March for offering unlicensed gaming, which Gammix Limited Director Phil Pearson called “an absolute joke” in response.

Last week, Spelinspektionen joined the United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports (ULIS) as an associate member. The authority’s Director, Ms. Rosenberg, commented: “By joining forces with ULIS, we are enhancing our capabilities to monitor and tackle the issues surrounding competition manipulation in our country and across its board.”

Elsewhere in Europe, the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) last month cancelled Tipbet’s authorisation for gaming operations in the country. As such, Tipbet can no longer take on new players and must refund all monies to existing players in compliance with the Gaming Act (Chapter 583 of the Laws of Malta), and must allow the MGA to extract and copy necessary regulatory data in accordance with the Gaming Definitions Regulations (S.L. 583.04).
