The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has recently blocked more illegal offshore gambling websites with the help of local Australian ISPs.

Among the sites blocked are A Big Candy, Jackpoty and John Vegas Casino, where investigations have shown them operating in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

The ACMA began enforcing its rules regarding illegal offshore gambling in 2017. Ever since then, over 220 illegal online gambling sites were removed from the Australian market. November 2019 saw ACMA make its first blocking request, which resulted in 995 illegal gambling websites and their affiliates being blocked from Australia.

ACMA has always warned consumers about the risks of going to illegal gambling websites, and to check if the gaming/gambling services they plan to use is indeed a legally licensed operator in Australia.

Last month, it requested Australian ISPs to block several illegal gambling websites from accessing Australia. The sites blocked include Jogi Casino, Dundee Slots, Lucky Hunter, Lucky Wins, Lukki Casino, Spin Fever, Clubhouse Casino and Winport Casino.

Even earlier, they have cracked down on illegal betting during the Women’s FIFA World Cup in 2023.

Australia advocates strongly for responsible gambling and consumer protection, which has been reflected in this report. The recent arrest of three Australian A-League footballers for illegal betting corruption and ongoing case involving SkyCity Adelaide by AUSTRAC is further proof of this.
