Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) Executive Director of Racing Andrew Harding announced the creation of “the ChatGPT version of horseracing” to introduce fans to a “digitally immersive” customer experience.

Harding was quoted by Hong Kong news media during the Asian Racing Conference (ARC) in Sapporo, saying: “Fan engagement is no mere buzzword – it will determine our future.”

Dennis Hau, HKJC’s Executive Director of Customer Strategy, Insights and Innovation, confirmed that part of HKJC’s current digital experience included virtual key opinion leaders offering race tips.

He believes this new generation of customers will expect access to an artificial intelligence (AI) simulator to predict said horse racing results.

“It will have data from the back end to support it to become the best specialist for you to predict the race ahead.”

The HKCJ has adopted a “data-driven approach” to retain existing customers’ engagement and attract a new generation of customers.

“Without data, without understanding our customers, we would be flying blind, we would only be able to provide a one-size-fits-all service,” Hau added.

Recent updates regarding horseracing featured Arena Racing Company (ARC) and 1/ST announcing a new partnership aimed at creating greater international racing opportunities across their events.
