New Jersey Gaming revenue rises to $555.1m for August 2024

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has released its total gaming revenue results for August 2024, revealing a complex picture of the state’s gambling industry.

The report indicates growth in most sectors though some experienced notable declines.

The nine casino hotel properties in Atlantic City reported total casino win of $294m for August 2024, marking a 4.9% increase compared to $280.3m in August 2023.

Year-to-date, however, casino win remained stable at $1.92bn – consistent with figures from the same period in 2023.

Online gaming continued to expand, with internet gaming win reaching $198.4m in August 2024. This figure reflects a notable 27.8% increase from the $155.3m reported in August 2023.

The year-to-date figures for internet gaming also showed robust growth, reaching $1.52bn – a 22.7% increase from the previous year.

In contrast, sports wagering gross revenue experienced a notable decline. Casinos, racetracks and their partners reported $62.7m for August 2024, a 34.7% decrease from August 2023.

Despite this monthly drop, the year-to-date sports wagering gross revenue showed a 19.7% increase, totalling $715.8m compared to $597.9m in 2023.

Overall, total gaming revenue reported by casinos, racetracks and their partners amounted to $555.1m for August 2024, reflecting a 4.4% increase from August 2023.

The year-to-date total gaming revenue also increased, reaching $4.16bn – a 10.5% rise from the same period in the previous year.

These figures demonstrate the evolving landscape of New Jersey’s gaming industry, with online gaming continuing to grow while traditional gambling formats face challenges.
