Kansspelautoriteit
The KSA, the Dutch Gaming Authority, has amended its Responsible Gaming Policy Rule after holding a meeting with online providers.
The latest policy came into full effect on 1 October 2024, as such the regulator held a meeting with several online providers to discuss how the rule was working in operations.
According to the KSA, “The need for this was soon apparent from the reactions of those present.”
A list of questions were submitted to the KSA ahead of time from the providers, with more arising throughout the discussion.
During this, the KSA once again emphasised the importance of providers acting in a “honest, professional and expert” manner.
Following the meeting, the KSA changed advertising rules, the financial deposit limit and included clarifications for 'real-time monitoring.'
Earlier this week, the KSA had to intervene with multiple sponsorship violations that failed to comply with new industry standards.
Spillemyndigheden
As for the Spillemyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority, this regulator published a reminder to operators that they must comply with the EU’s sanctions regarding freezing of assets.
If an individual, business or organisation is added to a list of sanctions as published by the EU, then the assets associated with them must be frozen immediately.
As part of this, the EU has created a database of all current sanctions lists concerning anti-money laundering which can be used to search for individuals, businesses or organisations – if any require their assets to be frozen, then their name will be accompanied by a frost symbol.
This list will be regularly updated as new information comes in.
In addition to the EU Sanctions Map as detailed above, there is also a UN Freezing of Assets List which must be adhered to.
Finally, the Spillemyndigheden reminds operators that any breaches of sanctions adopted by the EU or UN may be punishable by fine or imprisonment.
Recently, the Danish Gambling Authority revealed that the gambling spend dropped 2.8% for September in its latest reports.
