Paf employees choose recipients for €125,000 annual donation

Key points:

– Paf employees voted on which initiatives should get a share of €125,000

– The top-voted cause was Ukraine, which received €40,000

– Others included children and cancer charities

Paf gave its employees the chance to nominate different good causes and initiatives to be part of its €125,000 ($130,051) annual donation drive.

Depending on how many votes each initiative received, this would determine how much of the funds were allocated to it.

Christer Fahlstedt, Paf CEO, said: “It’s really important that everyone who works at Paf feels that our core mission is different and that it’s well worth working for. That’s why we wanted to involve the employees and give everyone a direct opportunity to determine the distribution of the donation.

“It was a great way to end last year and a good initiative to repeat this year. The donation is not part of Paf’s usual mission and purpose, but it reflects our overall core purpose in an excellent way.”

First place and €40,000 went to causes for Ukraine, which included Power Up, an energy and power solution company; Blågula Bilen, which donates trucks and 4×4 vehicles with supplies; Hospitallers, a paramedic volunteer organisation; Come Back Alive, a demining organisation; and Safe & Smart, which restores hybrid and offline learning in Ukrainian schools.

Good to know: This initiative is not open to organisations that are already beneficiaries of Paf. In 2024, Paf distributed €31.4m to different initiatives and has donated over €447m since 1966

Second place and €25,000 went to causes against cancer, while third place and €15,000 went to combating abuse of children.

Other initiatives which received aid including medical aid for Paletsine, causes for women and Jesuit Refugee Services Malta.

Recently, BetBlocker and Yellow Scarf have also expanded their coverage to include Ukraine, Poland and Russian-speaking communities.
