A large quantity of sports, most crucially football, have been underlined as approved for fixed-odds sports betting less than 24 hours prior to the opening of the Brazilian market, with local reports also indicating numerous license approvals.
As detailed by the Ministry of Sports, many popular sporting activities have been authorised by the Brazilian government, making them eligible to bet on ahead of the regulation of the nation’s sports betting market in the new year.
Popular sports such as football, basketball, boxing, baseball, hockey, cricket, tennis and surfing have been included in the list alongside more niche offerings such as a number of martial arts, skateboarding, diving, sailing, skiing and equestrianism. Indeed, the list is extensive and covers all sports and modalities recognised by the International Olympic Committee, as well as large number of paralympic sports. The inevitable inclusion of Football, however, is likely to catch the attention of the majority of prospective wagerers in the nation.

Additionally, local reports out of Brazil have revealed that several gambling institutions have received approval of their licenses for both online gambling and sports wagering in the nation.
Regarding online, reports indicate a total of 68 licenses have been approved thus far for a mixture of local and internationally recognised operators – with Novibet providing conformation of its online gaming licence approval earlier today.
For sports wagering licenses, a total of 67 have been awarded, with 14 currently confirmed as definitive, alongside 52 provisional approvals. This number, however, could be subject to change.
This latest news follows reports that Brazil began finalising the first 71 online gambling applications earlier this month, with Salsa Gator confirming that it had received GLI certification for online gaming last week.
