- The event highlighted the gaming industry’s role in driving economic growth and job creation
President Donald Trump visited Circa Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, marking the first presidential appearance at a casino property during his second term.
The event, hosted by Circa CEO Derek Stevens, featured discussions on the gaming industry’s tax policy goals, with leaders advocating for reforms to the slot tax threshold and the removal of the sports betting excise tax.
Bill Miller, president and CEO of the AGA, said: “Today’s event is a testament to the president’s commitment to making sure that the tax code not only encourages job creation, but also ensures workers keep more of their hard-earned money.”
The gaming sector has seen record-breaking growth in recent years, with the AGA projecting total commercial gaming revenue to surpass $67bn in 2024, marking the fourth consecutive year of record gains. In the third quarter alone, the industry generated $17.71bn, driven by the expansion of online gaming, which accounted for 29% of total revenue.
Good to know: The event also underscored the president’s previous support for the industry, including federal economic relief measures during his first term that helped casinos recover from the impact of Covid-19 shutdowns
In addition to tax reforms, the gaming industry continues to prioritise responsible gaming initiatives and combating illegal operators.
Last year, the AGA secured a legal victory against unlicensed gaming machines in Virginia.
