Key points:
- PAGCOR will offer grants to the Academy for improvements and new construction projects
- These include a new office, lab, sports facilities and vehicles
- Recently, PAGCOR helped open a dormitory for families caring for patients in the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has pledged to finance the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) as it undergoes several construction projects at the facility.
Tengco said: “We were informed that this office is now in a serious state of deterioration and is in dire need of renovation.
“So today, we are affirming our commitment to help fund the construction of the new PMA Candidate Control Liaison Office, even if the PMA management has not yet formally requested it.”
Along with the aforementioned Candidate Control Liaison Office, the other construction projects will include a modern warfare laboratory, patient transport vehicles and upgrades to the PMA Sports Complex.
The latter will include a new martial arts studio and an Olympic-size heated swimming pool.
Tengo continued: “These projects are proof of our commitment to protect the welfare of the brave men and women of the PMA and the Armed Forces who risk their lives for our nation.
Good to know: In 2012, PACGOR donated PHP 105m ($1.81m) towards the PMA Sports Complex, while PAGCOR licensees Solaire Resort & Casino and Newport World Resorts donated funds to build and improve barracks in 2016 and 2019
“With grateful hearts, we will ensure that your sacrifices are never taken for granted and that you can always count on our cooperation and support.”
A few weeks ago, PAGCOR helped open a new dormitory building for families and carers of patients at V Luna Medical Center (VLMC) in Quezon City, otherwise known as the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center.
Caesar Bernard Valencia, PMA Superintendent Vice Admiral, said: “We are ecstatic that PMA will be continuing its collaboration with PAGCOR. As Chairman Tengco said, PMA and PAGCOR share a strong history of collaboration, and we are happy to continue that partnership.
“Next year, we will be working on a new curriculum and we will delve mainly into electronic warfare, cyber warfare and artificial intelligence. For us to do that, we need a bigger venue where cadets can test theories they learn in class.”
