Key points:

- Calls for collaboration between different parties is needed to eradicate online gambling
The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has announced that regulations surrounding online gambling are set to be issued soon.
This comes after President Prabowo Subianto said serious regulations would be implemented as soon as possible with regards to online gambling and that regulation needs to be stricter.
It has been stated that almost one million online gambling sites have been blocked, but Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid has underlined that this figure is not enough, and that when it comes to dealing with online gambling, simply blocking cannot be the only avenue.
It has also been emphasised that collaboration between the Ministry of Communication and Digital, the Police and the Attorney General’s Office, among other institutions, must take place to eradicate online gambling in Thailand.
Good to know: In the first six days of 2025, Indonesia’s Komdigi Ministry blocked 43,063 gambling-related digital items related to online gambling content
Hafid said: "The President emphasised that handling online gambling must be stricter. One of the strategic steps that will be taken soon is the issuance of regulations in the form of Government Regulations (PP) that regulate more firmly and comprehensively.”
