ACMA lists four more online casinos for Australian internet service providers to block

Key points:

– The ACMA has noted four additional illegal gambling websites that should be blocked by internet providers

– These are Megabet Prize, Mega Medusa, TF2Royal and Casino Intense

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has listed a further four online sites that offer illegal gambling for Australian internet service providers (ISPs) to block.

The list of illegal online gambling websites include Megabet Prize, Mega Medusa, TF2Royal and Casino Intense.

TF2Royal is a coin-flip site with the chance to win esports items, while the others operate as standard online casinos.

Australia introduced stricter regulations surrounding online gambling in 2017, which resulted in 220 illegal services voluntarily pulling out of the market.

For companies who refuse to leave after being identified, the Australian authorities have begun to explore a range of enforcement options, with website blocking being just one of them.

The ACMA also emphasises that even if an illegal gambling site looks legitimate, besides not having a licence, it’s likely to also be missing several other key aspects.

Good to know: Since the ACMA made its first blocking request in November 2019, 1,210 illegal gambling and affiliate websites have been blocked

These are usually customer protection tools, such as responsible gambling and the ability for enforcement to recover any money unlawfully lost or taken by the sites.

For the sake of transparency and protection, the ACMA has a full list of wagering services that are licensed to operate in Australia on its website in the form of a business register.

This includes a list of operators, as well as the state or territory licensing authority responsible for them.

In other Australian news, Star Entertainment has published a net loss of AU$302m (US$192.6m) in its H1 results.
