Key points:

- The Grand Ho Tram broke ground on a $1bn, 35-hectare expansion featuring hotels, villas, entertainment venues and convention facilities

- The development will add over 6,000 rooms with capacity for 18,000 daily guests, positioning Ho Tram to compete with major regional gaming destinations

The Grand Ho Tram officially broke ground on 15 May on an extensive development valued at over $1bn.

The ambitious investment will see the creation of a 35-hectare integrated hospitality and entertainment complex, aimed at positioning Ho Tram as a premier destination in Southeast Asia.

The expansion – backed by Lodgis Hospitality Holdings and VinaLiving – will include a five-star hotel complex, luxury resort villas, a wide array of entertainment facilities and an international convention and exhibition centre.

Once completed, the development will boast over 6,000 rooms and an estimated daily guest capacity of 18,000.

Good to know: This expansion forms part of The Grand Ho Tram’s master plan to scale its footprint to 164 hectares

Speaking at the ceremony, The Grand Ho Tram CEO Walter Power stated: “We firmly believe Ho Tram will not only be Vietnam’s leading integrated resort destination but will also be able to compete with top regional destinations such as Singapore, Manila and Macau, particularly as we work closely with authorities at all levels to explore new growth drivers.”

The event was attended by senior government officials, business leaders and strategic partners, highlighting the project’s importance to Vietnam’s economic development.

The development also underscores strengthening investment ties between Vietnam and the United States, as Lodgis Hospitality Holdings represents a joint venture between Warburg Pincus and VinaCapital.

This expansion aligns with Vietnam’s broader tourism ambitions and builds on a regulatory environment that continues to evolve, including trial extensions permitting local citizens to gamble under certain conditions.
