The Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen) has issued an obligation to provide information to several gambling companies.
According to information published on the regulator's official website, authorities have initiated a supervisory process aimed at evaluating whether existing license holders are in full compliance with the regulations concerning the type and clarity of information that must be made available on their respective websites.
This review seeks to ensure that the mandatory disclosures are properly presented and accessible to users, in line with current legal and regulatory requirements.
A few days ago, the Swedish Gambling Authority had banned three unlicensed gambling companies – EOD Code SRL, Igloo Ventures SRL and MIBS NV – for illegally targeting Swedish consumers.
These actions are being taken as a reaction to a report released earlier in 2025 by the Swedish National Audit Office, which identified major deficiencies in the current system. The report concluded that the supervisory efforts have fallen short of the standards and expectations established by the Riksdag and the Government at the time of the 2019 re-regulation of the gambling market.
In its response, the Swedish Gambling Authority recognised the conclusions outlined in the report and admitted that it has encountered difficulties in implementing effective oversight measures.
Some of the licensees that are required to provide information in the current request, which will take place during spring, are Lotto, Polar, 888 Sweden, Mr Green, PinBet and more.
The findings may lead to an intervention, depending on the outcome.
