Key points:
- Luke Gough is promoted from Sales Partner to Betting and Games Sales Director
- His role will involve building upon the recent success of Unibet and Paddy Power deals
Luke Gough has been appointed to the role of Betting and Gaming Sales Director at The Sun newspaper.
The publication is moving to extend its commercial capabilities in this area and Gough, an internal appointment, will be tasked with trying to help position it as a sector leader.
Gough previously held a post as a Sales Partner with The Sun but will now take more responsibility in trying to secure new partnerships and deals.
Owen Griffiths, Commercial Revenue Director at The Sun said: “His commercial acumen, strong client relationships and results-driven approach have been key to partnerships like those with Unibet and Paddy Power.”
The Sun may look at more deals like these as it seeks to grow within betting and gaming, sourcing further revenue streams and expanding its client base.
Good to know: Before taking on his first role at The Sun, Gough served as Creative Solutions Manager at Sky
Gough looks forward to the opportunity the role provides: “Betting and gaming is one of the most exciting and fast-moving sectors in media, and The Sun is uniquely placed to lead it.”
The extension of the deal with Paddy Power for a third year running and the new sponsorship deal with Unibet can perhaps be read as statements of intent.
