Hoiana appoints ex-Newport World Resorts exec as new head of gaming

Hoiana Resort & Golf has named David Jorden as its new EVP of Gaming, marking another leadership shift at the central Vietnam resort following its takeover by Hong Kong-based VMS Group earlier this year.
Jorden’s appointment was confirmed via his LinkedIn profile and signals a strategic move by the resort to strengthen its gaming operations.
He brings more than a decade of casino marketing and management experience, having previously served at major integrated resorts across Asia.
He most recently served as CMO at Newport World Resorts in Manila for three years until May 2025. Before that, he spent six years at Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa, where he held various senior roles including vice president for casino marketing and business development. He also held a leadership role at Marina Bay Sands, focusing on marketing and loyalty.
His appointment comes amid a series of top-level changes at Hoiana. In February, long-time CEO Steve Wolstenholme stepped down, with Alan Teo later taking over as CEO of Hoi An South Development, the entity promoting the resort. Teo had previously served as COO of Universal Hotels and Resorts Inc, the developer behind NUSTAR Resort & Casino in the Philippines.

In February, Hoiana’s backers announced a US$1bn expansion as part of the resort’s second phase.
