ACMA issues formal warnings over illegal online gambling operations

Key points:

– Websites promoted prohibited gambling content to Australians

– ACMA reinforces commitment to consumer protection and regulation

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued formal warnings to multiple gambling operators for violating the Interactive Gambling Act, targeting companies that illegally provide casino services to Australian customers.

Australia Internet Pokies received warnings for operating the “Best Aussie Pokies” website, which serves as a gateway to prohibited gambling services. The company not only provides direct links and information to help Australian consumers access illegal gambling sites but also publishes prohibited advertisements featuring casino branding and promotional content specifically targeting Australian customers.

Several international operators were warned for providing casino services without proper Australian licences. Bamboo Media’s Ignition Casino service offered casino games and in-play betting to Australian customers, while Consolutetish S.R.L. operated both National Casino and Bizzo Casino services, providing casino-style games of chance and skill for money.

Dama N.V. received two separate warnings for operating RocketPlay and Level Up Casino services, both offering unlicensed betting services, including in-play betting to Australian customers. The company lacked the required state or territory licences to legally provide these services.
