PrizePicks will be the first licensed DFS operator in Puerto Rico

Key points:

– PrizePicks has started trading with a new licence in Maine

– It has also become the first daily fantasy sports operator to acquire a license in Puerto Rico

– When ‘Arena’ goes live in Puerto Rico, the brand will be operational in 47 US jurisdictions

For daily fantasy sports (DFS) operators there is no bigger player than PrizePicks in the US, and it has now extended its scope even further with the addition of licences in Maine and Puerto Rico.

The license to trade in Puerto Rico makes it the only daily fantasy sports operator to have obtained a gaming license in the territory.

PrizePick’s Arena product is a ‘pick’em’ style game where users make predictions about athletes in sporting fixtures and win money if they come true.

The game is available in Maine and is now set to go live in Puerto Rico at some point during the coming months.

Adam Packer, SVP of Legal and Compliance said: “We’ve seen tremendous engagement with Arena across the country, and we’re confident that momentum will carry into these new jurisdictions.”

Good to know: When these new licenses go live, PrizePicks will be operational with its fantasy sports games across 47 jurisdictions in the US

PrizePicks became the first fantasy sports operator to receive Internet Compliance Assessment Program certification, recognising the company’s commitment to responsible gaming and consumer protection.

The brand has faced industry opposition in the past due to its classification as not being a traditional sportsbook or betting site, despite its games allegedly sharing similarities with prop betting.

The company is based in Atlanta, where it announced last year that it intended to expand operations, creating 1,000 new jobs over the next seven years.
