Allwyn’s North American Chief Executive steps down
Allwyn has announced a change at the top of its North American operations.

Allwyn North America Chief Executive, Wayne Pickup, will be departing the company after eight years, though he will remain in post until 14 November.
Robert Chvatal, Allwyn Group CEO, said: “We have begun the search for Wayne’s successor, who will continue driving growth in the Illinois Lottery and the expansion of our wider North American business over the coming months and years.”
The multi-national lottery operator has thanked its departing executive for helping “put Allywn North America on the map,” and it will no doubt hope his eventual successor can pick up where he left off.
Allwyn officially took over from Camelot as operator of the UK National Lottery in February 2024, following its successful bid in 2022 to claim the fourth licence handed out since the Lottery was established in 1994 – the licence will run for 10 years.
To ease the transition, Allwyn subsequently bought out the Camelot family of brands, including over in North America.
This brought about the rebranding of Camelot Illinois as Allwyn North America in 2023.
At the time, Pickup commented that: “We remain committed to serving our customers, engaging players and growing lottery revenue to benefit the communities they serve.”
That objective will now be continuing without him, but Pickup has thanked the company for the trust it showed in him during his stint as Chief Executive, and he has expressed his confidence in the strong foundations that were built in that time.
In North America, Allwyn runs the Illinois and Michigan lotteries, while earlier in 2025, the firm revealed a partnership with DC Lottery in Washington DC to bring its e-instant games to players in the area.
