HKJC raises monthly membership fees from October
Full member rates to rise by 12.5% amid inflation and higher operating costs
Key points:
– Monthly fee for full members to increase to HK$3,150 (US$402)
– HKJC expects additional revenue of HK$84.1m annually
– Inflation, wage growth and infrastructure spending cited as main reasons
The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) will raise its monthly membership fees from 1 October 2025. As reported by The Hong Kong Economic Times, the adjustment will see full and corporate members pay HK$3,150 per month, an increase of HK$350 or 12.5%. Full (S) and racing members will pay HK$1,050, up by HK$100 or 10.5%.
Based on membership figures as of end-June, the revised fees are expected to generate an additional HK$7.01m per month or approximately HK$84.1m per year. The HKJC had last adjusted its membership fees in October 2023.
According to the club, the increase is necessary to offset rising operational costs. Annual wage expenditure has grown by 4.6%, food procurement by 5.3% and utility expenses have continued to rise. The club stressed that membership operations are run on a self-financing basis and that monthly fees are essential to sustaining day-to-day costs.
Good to know: Sha Tin Clubhouse has undergone major renovations including a redesigned lobby and second floor. Further upgrades are underway at Beas River and both racecourses
The HKJC also stated that it is continuing to invest in member facilities. Sha Tin Racecourse has expanded its car park and will introduce a redesigned main entrance during the next racing season. A digital guest pass system is also being launched. At Happy Valley, the renovated Winning Post is set to reopen in the near term.
The club said the changes reflect a need to maintain service quality while preparing for future infrastructure needs.
