Key points:

– Nevada’s total gaming revenue reached $1.23bn, up 5.5% year-on-year

– The Las Vegas Strip posted $652.1m, rising 2% as baccarat nearly doubled to $115.6m

– Mobile sports betting revenue jumped 96.8% to $29.4m, driving a wider sports wagering increase of 68.1%

The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) has reported total gaming revenue of $1.23bn for August 2025, a 5.5% year-on-year increase.

The uplift was supported by strong baccarat results and sharp gains in mobile sports betting, despite continued declines in some slot machine categories.

Table games and card games posted combined revenue of $411.8m, up 12.6%. Baccarat alone generated $116.5m, a 52.6% increase, as high-roller play surged across the Strip.

Sports wagering revenue grew by 68.1% to $42m, with mobile betting nearly doubling to $29.4m. Football betting accounted for $16.3m, up 85.9%, reflecting the seasonal boost from the return of college and NFL pre-season play.

Clark County and the Las Vegas Strip

Clark County, which accounts for the majority of Nevada’s gaming revenue, reported $1.03bn in August 2025, a 5.3% increase.

The Las Vegas Strip generated $652.1m, representing a 2% increase. Baccarat revenue on the Strip nearly doubled to $115.6m, helping offset slot machine weakness. Revenue from multi-denomination slot machines rose 14.2% to $508.5m, while penny slot revenue fell by 31.2% to $93.1m.

Downtown Las Vegas posted $63.2m in revenue, up 8.3%, while North Las Vegas rose 7.8% to $24.7m. By contrast, Laughlin saw a 7.1% decline to $41m and the Boulder Strip dropped 1.1% to $84.8m.

Regional Performance Beyond Clark County

Washoe County, including Reno, reported $102.8m in revenue, an increase of 7.4%. Reno accounted for $76.1m of that figure, rising 9.9%. Sparks reported $15.7m (+3.2%), while North Lake Tahoe fell 15% to $3.1m.

South Lake Tahoe recorded a notable rebound, up 21.5% to $37.7m, while Carson Valley revenue grew 8.9% to $12.4m. Mesquite, home to regional properties including CasaBlanca Resort & Casino, posted a 9.9% increase to $15.1m. Elko County was the only region to see a decline, falling 0.8% to $32.4m.

Challenges and past results

August’s results highlight the continued volatility in Nevada’s gaming landscape. While baccarat and digital betting provided strong gains, traditional slot play showed softness across multiple denominations.

The growth follows a 4% statewide revenue increase in July 2025, when the Strip posted $749.1m, up 5.6%. That month also saw South Lake Tahoe rise 21.5% and Reno nearly 10%, while local casinos reported a 1.5% decline.

Earlier in 2025, June revenue reached $1.36bn, with Strip performance boosted by a surge in baccarat play. In May, Nevada reported its first $1.4bn month of the year, though subsequent results have underscored the uneven distribution of growth between regional and destination markets.
