Caesars steps up US sports betting plans for New Jersey and Mississippi

Caesars Entertainment is “moving quickly” to open sports betting facilities in both New Jersey and Mississippi.

Sports betting was recently legalised in both states following the Supreme Court's repeal of the 1992 Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act.

Mark Frissora, the operator’s President and CEO, said: "The recent Supreme Court ruling allows us to expand our sports betting digital and mobile offerings into new markets.

"We recognise that our customers expect exciting new experiences, which is why we will continue to offer new products through our mobile and digital platforms and inside our properties."

Caesars’ Atlantic City properties with retail sportsbooks include Bally's, Wild Wild West and Harrah's Atlantic City, which is scheduled to open on 1 August.

Caesars will also introduce its new sports betting app in New Jersey to coincide with the opening of the retail sports betting openings.

Mississippi sports betting shops are set to open in the Horseshoe Tunica and Harrah's Gulf Coast in mid-August, just before the NFL season begins.

The new sports betting retail shops, which are said to replicate those already available in Caesars’ Nevada-based properties, will be powered by Scientific Games’ digital division.

Barry Cottle, President and CEO at Scientific Games, said: "We're thrilled to partner with Caesars to help them bring best-in-class sports wagering experiences to their players. With OpenBet, our powerful and robust sportsbook platform, Caesars will have a truly open platform and end-to-end product suite that delivers the very best and flexible solutions and has proven success managing the largest share of the world's online bets, more than 2 billion online bets annually."

Caesars also stated intensions to expand its mobile app to more states in the US once more jurisdictions allow it to and it becomes “economically attractive” for the company to do so.
