TSG Interactive fined €400,000 for offering poker through Pokerstars.eu

TSG Interactive Gaming Europe Limited, part of Stars Group, has been fined €400,000 ($439,297) by the Dutch Gaming Authority (KSA) for offering poker through PokerStars.eu.

PokerHand

A game in which it is possible to win money is only allowed if the company has been granted a license to provide said game, with the licensing process not yet underway in the Netherlands.

The KSA investigated PokerStars' website in 2018, discovering PokerStars is aimed at Dutch consumers.

Not only could the site be accessed in the Netherlands, players could pay using Dutch payment method Ideal.

The KSA also found the Netherlands was not mentioned on a list of countries prohibited from accessing and playing poker on the site.

In the current market, only Holland Casino is allowed to offer players the opportunity to play poker in return for money.

Even Holland Casino is restricted to land-based poker offerings, with online poker illegal in the Netherlands.
