Suncity Group Holdings Limited has reported H1 revenue of RMB93.7m ($22.5m), a 70% decline year-on-year.

The operator said: “The decrease was mainly attributable to the decrease in revenue from the travel-related products and services segment.”

Suncity's gross profit for H1 dropped 46% to RMB28m. However, the loss attributable to owners was RMB118.6m, 91% less than the loss of RMB1.3bn that was reported for H1 2019.

Business in Hoiana and Tigre de Cristal casinos suffered due to the COVID-19 virus, though both have since been reopened.

Hoiana was operating at limited capacity for three days only after its opening on June 28. It has negative gross gaming revenue of $1.5m. Gaming EBITDA was also negative $3m.

The group stated: “Initial feedback from guests is positive as they like Hoiana's hospitality and facilities” and the casino recorded positive gross gaming revenue in both July and August. The casino’s grand opening is scheduled for 2021.

Gross gaming revenue for Tigre de Cristal dropped 71% for H1 and earned HKD124.7m. Adjusted Property EBITDA for H1 was negative HKD22.1m.

All of the Suncity's operations were impacted by “varying degrees as tourism was heavily disrupted in the first half of 2020.”
