Caesars Entertainment hit with DGE fine

Casino operator Caesars Entertainment Corporation has been fined $10,000 by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) for wrongfully sending promotional material to customers.

A number of promotions had been sent out between February and May by Caesars Interactive Entertainment, the online subsidiary of Caesars Entertainment.

The emails were unlawfully sent to 250 people who had voluntarily put themselves on a list to exclude them from promotions relating to land-based and online gaming.

Caesars offers permanent exclusion or a temporary ban lasting one, two, three or five months via its wsop.com website.

Gaming companies are not permitted to advertise to people that have put themselves on the list, which lead to a complaint being filed in October.

The DGE has ruled that a civil penalty is a fair punishment, after considering the terms of the Casino Control Act.
