Battle of Malta Online Tops $35M in Prize Pools, Draws 528K Entries
Hemingway wins main event and cashes over $300K in total prize money.
CoinPoker’s Battle of Malta Online comfortably surpassed its $30 million guarantee, generating more than $35.1 million in prize pools during a 23-day festival that attracted more than half a million tournament entries.
Running from July 12 through Aug. 3, the series featured 764 tournaments and 528,237 entries, excluding satellites. Total prize pools reached $35,120,885, beating the advertised guarantee by more than $5.1 million.
The festival also helped CoinPoker reach a new traffic milestone. More than 25,000 players were simultaneously active on the platform during the final weekend, setting a new all-time high.
Hemingway Headlines Three Main Event Champions
The $565 Battle of Malta Main Event generated the largest prize pool of the series, with 4,778 entries pushing the pot to $2.55 million.
Hemingway took down the tournament for $250,000 and finished the festival with $304,061.90 in total cashes, the most of any player.
Two other Main Events concluded on the series’ final day. MarianexBJ won the $55 Main Challenger for $50,000, while Syn captured the $11 Main Crusader and $10,000. The Main Crusader drew 11,663 entries, the largest field of the festival.
Among other notable results, pensefortement collected $235,000 for winning the $1,500 CoinMasters Bitcoin High Roller, while MystereEtBouleDeGomme won The Iron Throne for $129,129.
CoinMillion, CoinPoker’s monthly $1 million-guaranteed tournament, opened the festival, with monc winning $121,500.
100 Players Earn Malta Packages
The online festival also provided a path to the live Battle of Malta Autumn Edition, scheduled for Oct. 27-Nov. 4.
CoinPoker awarded 100 packages valued at $2,500 apiece. Twenty-five were distributed through the three Main Events and another 75 through the Battle of Malta Champion’s Trials promotion.
Each package includes a €600 Main Event entry, accommodations and a travel allowance.
The series also awarded 77 trophies. Winners received digital trophies for their CoinPoker Trophy Cabinet and can either collect their physical versions during the live festival or have them shipped.
CoinPoker Turns Attention to $50M GOPC
CoinPoker follows Battle of Malta Online with the Global Online Poker Championship beginning Aug. 23.
The upcoming series carries $50 million in guarantees and will feature regional schedules geared toward players in Asia, Europe and Latin America. Buy-ins will range from $2.20 to $25,500 across Main Events, High Rollers, Medal Events and other tournaments.
CoinMillion will also return during the GOPC, with the next $215 buy-in, $1 million-guaranteed edition scheduled for Sept. 6.
