FanDuel endorses Gambling Awareness Month with Play Well initiatives

FanDuel will roll out programmes to promote March’s Problem Gambling Awareness Month, bidding to lead industry efforts on responsible wagering.

Among the initiatives pledged, a new advertisement campaign, new themed content and a $100,000 donation to the National Council on Problem Gaming (NCPG) stand out as advocatory schemes for problem gambling.

FanDuel’s new multi-media campaign, The System, produced in partnership with Boomshot, will air in March and continue throughout 2022. The significant investments placed in the advertisement scheme will highlight FanDuel’s endorsement of responsible gambling, or so the operator hopes.

Betting on “road dogs” and “bird mascots” is not the way to gamble, professes FanDuel’s new TV spot. Instead, gamers should keep in mind that sports betting for fun is “the winning system.”

The operator hopes to use this message to promote its responsible gaming tools, which includes deposit, wager and time limits.

Craig Carton, FanDuel’s Responsible Gaming Ambassador, will be the face of the company’s Play Well initiatives. Carton will be employed to reinforce safer gambling messaging and advise players against chasing bets.

“We’re fully committed at FanDuel to developing useful tools and programmes that make a difference in responsible gaming”Adam Warrington, VP of Responsible Gaming, FanDuel

FanDuel believes Carton’s experiences as a gambling addict will be crucial in helping the operator better spot problematic play patterns taken by its customers.

Vice President of Responsible Gaming at FanDuel Adam Warrington echoes this, noting: “We’re fully committed at FanDuel to developing useful tools and programmes that make a difference in responsible gaming.

“Our new ad campaign and Craig Carton’s content aims to bring an important spotlight to our player control tools, which help customers keep sports betting fun and entertaining.”

A $100,000 donation has also been pledged to the National Council on Problem Gambling. The operator hopes that the donation reaffirms public perception of FanDuel as an advocate for services that assist people affected by gambling.

On the donation, spokesperson for the National Council on Problem Gambling Keith Whyte said: We applaud FanDuel Group for taking meaningful steps, during Problem Gambling Awareness Month and all year long, to promote responsible gambling and address problem gambling nationwide.”

FanDuel CEO Amy Howe also emphasised the operator’s focus on responsible gambling in her CEO Special interview with Gambling Insider.
