Evolution launches new Monopoly-inspired live game show
Evolution has launched a new live game show inspired by Monopoly, further diversifying the company’s content portfolio.
The so-called “bingo-style” product is titled Monopoly Big Baller and represents a spin on the classic board game, in contrast to Evolution’s more traditional Monopoly Live product.
Big Baller is based on Hasbro’s famous board game, but ditches the familiar urban setting for a riverboat cruise.
A human host and augmented reality Mr Monopoly, who has swapped his top hat and suit for a captain’s costume, will guide players through the new game.
Big Baller is centred around a ball drawing machine. Much like bingo, balls pop out, numbers are matched and lines are completed on cards. “The more lines players make, the more they win,” Evolution said.
However, unlike normal bingo, Big Baller incorporates recognisable Monopoly features, such as dice rolls, ‘Chance’ cards and ‘Go To Jail’ spaces, among other hallmarks of the board game.
“Mr Monopoly is back big time! We have a sizeable segment of players who love bingo- and lottery-style bouncing ball games,” said Todd Haushalter, Chief Product Officer at Evolution.
“Our Mega Ball game, for example, is extremely popular. Now, Monopoly Big Baller offers another unique live game show – and one that is visually and thematically very different.”
Evolution is no stranger to branded content. In addition to Monopoly Live, the company’s Red Tiger studio released a title inspired by Narcos Mexico earlier this year.
When compared to non-branded content, games based on an existing IP represent an opportunity to acquire more casual players.
Haushalter touched on this, commenting: “Monopoly Big Baller packs all of that brand value into a new online live game show that is sure to appeal not only to Monopoly and bingo lovers, but also to a new and much wider audience.”
