Sue Ascanio has been appointed as the new General Manager of the Plaza Hotel & Casino.

A highly accomplished and licensed gaming and hospitality executive, Ascanio has over 30 years of Las Vegas, Mid-West region and tribal gaming experience, most recently serving as General Manager at River Rock Casino in Sonoma County, California.

She began her career in the gaming and hospitality industry in Las Vegas, firstly with Harrah’s Entertainment for almost 10 years, and then with Station Casinos.

During her 12-year stay with the latter, Ascanio served as Director of Operations, Director of Food and Beverage, and Vice President/General Manager at three properties. She also served as an Executive with Pinnacle Entertainment and Penn National Gaming in Indiana.

“Sue is a proven leader who has experience with all aspects of managing a hotel/casino, including the design and construction of large-scale improvement projects and motivating a strong leadership team and staff,” said Plaza Hotel & Casino CEO Jonathan Jossel.

“Most importantly, Sue shares my commitment to enhancing the guest and team member experience. I am confident that she will motivate our team and lead operations that will ensure the Plaza remains a top-tier destination in downtown Las Vegas.”

Ascanio is a graduate of the University of Nevada – Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration.
