The Cordish Companies receives approval on $250m Louisiana Casino Project

The Cordish Companies has received unanimous approval from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board to become a casino operator in Bossier City, Louisiana.

This regulatory approval allows Cordish to complete its acquisition of Diamond Jacks Casino & Hotel, and commence the transformation of the property into a casino resort and entertainment complex under the Live! brand.

The redevelopment project, set to open in 2025, includes the construction of the first land-based casino in the Shreveport-Bossier market.

Joe Weinberg, Managing Partner at The Cordish Companies, expressed gratitude for the approval and shared their excitement for the project, stating: “Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will be a transformative development that will bring a first-class gaming, dining, entertainment and hospitality experience, create significant new jobs and generate millions of dollars in economic benefits for the community. We are extremely excited to continue moving forward with this project and deliver a world-class destination to the region.”

During the public hearing, Cordish officials presented an overview of the Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, representing an investment exceeding $270m.

The facility will encompass over 47,000 square feet of gaming space, housing more than 1,000 slots, electronic table games and over 40 live-action table games.

Additionally, it will feature a sportsbook, a 550-room hotel, resort-style amenities, a 25,000-square-foot Event Center and over 30,000 square feet of dining and entertainment venues.

The Live! Casino & Hotel development in Bossier City represents a continuation of Cordish’s expansion in the South Central and Southeast regions of the United States — with other developments in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas — where they currently have over $1bn under construction in the Arlington Entertainment District.
