Rocky Mountain Gaming expands portfolio with acquisition of Cripple Creek Casinos

Rocky Mountain Gaming has finalised agreements to acquire the operational assets of Johnny Nolon’s Casino and Colorado Grande Casino in Cripple Creek.

The announcement, made by Rocky Mountain Gaming on 13 December 2023, is pending approval and licensing from the Colorado Division of Gaming.

This acquisition involves Rocky Mountain Gaming partnering with Minter Holdings to acquire Johnny Nolon’s Casino and G Investments to acquire the operating assets of the Colorado Grande Casino.

David Ross, a Founder of Rocky Mountain Gaming, stated: “The Cripple Creek market is growing rapidly with Golden Nugget bringing in an anchor restaurant like Salt Grass and the opening of Chamonix this month.

“Those two operators, at either end of the town, will help attract new visitors to Cripple Creek and we think there’s an opportunity for our properties to offer a true locals experience that caters to individuals looking for loose slots and personal service.”

Johnny Nolon’s Casino and the Colorado Grande Casino hold a combined total of approximately 400 gaming devices and operate Maggie’s Restaurant at the Colorado Grande.

Minter commented: “I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished at these two casinos over the years. While other casinos were coming and going and changing owners, we were a constant in this town. I look forward to seeing what Rocky Mountain Gaming brings to these casinos I love so much.”

This acquisition aligns with recent developments in Colorado’s gaming landscape, where the Limited Gaming Control Commission approved over $1.5m in grants to address problem gambling. The grants support projects focused on addiction treatment, education, counselling and research.
