The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting infrastructure initiatives for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco made the pledge during the Officer Candidate School’s (OCS) Rites of Passage Ceremony held at Camp O’Donnell in Capas, Tarlac, on 24 May.

Speaking before members of the “Nagdilaab” Class 62-2025 and incoming “Bumannawag” Class 63-2025, Tengco emphasised PAGCOR’s alignment with the AFP in their shared mission to serve the Filipino people, stating: “Though we operate in different spheres, we are united by a shared duty to serve Filipinos with integrity, courage and dedication.”

The PAGCOR chief also highlighted the gaming corporation’s existing support for military personnel, which includes funding educational facilities, constructing hospitals and implementing programs benefiting soldiers and their families.

OCS Commandant Col. Harold Cabunoc welcomed the Chairman’s support, highlighting the school’s urgent infrastructure needs.

Currently accommodating 600 cadets in barracks designed for 400, the OCS is requesting funding for new facilities, including two additional barracks, an auditorium and a fitness gym.

While specific funding details have yet to be finalised, Tengco’s presence and pledge of continued support signal PAGCOR’s intention to remain a key partner in military development projects.

In related news, PAGCOR recently remitted PHP 12.67bn to the National Treasury, representing 75% of its 2024 net income and exceeding the mandatory 50% requirement.
