While land-based gambling continues to decline in the country, that hasn’t seemed to dissuade the players - they’ve simply moved online.

Danish GGR up 11.6% in April to DKK 665m as online casino figures soar

Key points:

– Spillemydigheden has revealed that GGR continues to grow in the Danish industry

– Online casinos are outperforming the other verticals

– Tuesday has proven to be the most popular day for gaming in April

Spillemydigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority, has published the figures for April 2025.

The GGR for April increased 11.6% year-on-year to DKK 665m ($103.06m), which was driven by a 21.2% jump in online casino GGR for a total of DKK 331m.

Land-based casinos remained steady with DKK 31m, the exact same as April last year, while gaming machines saw a 4.1% decrease to DKK 93m.

Betting noted a small 6.2% boost to DKK 207m, while land-based bingo debuted with DKK 3m.

The majority of betting activity came from mobile, with 70.6%, compared to 21% from computers and 9.1% from land-based bookies.

While Saturday and Sunday predictably held the majority of stakes, Tuesday was a close third place.

Good to know: The GGR so far for 2025 is DKK 2.53bn, with online casinos accounting for 50.3% of this figure

As for online casinos, it seems that more players are migrating to mobile rather than computer; with a 67.9% and 32.1% ratio, compared to 59% and 41% in 2024 respectively.

Tuesday proved to be the busiest day for online casinos, with Wednesday very close behind.

Gaming machines also proved to be most popular on Tuesdays.

Finally, there were 60,325 registered with Rofus by April 2025, the self-exclusion service, and 50 conversations related to StopSpillet.

Recently, the Danish Gambling Authority partnered with Twitch to combat illegal gambling content, as well as expanding its existing collaborations with Apple, Google and Facebook.
