The Resolving Council of the Superintendency of Gaming Casinos has authorised Casino del Mar in Viña del Mar to voluntarily resign its operating permit, in accordance with section 4 of article 46 bis of Supreme Decree No 1722 of 2015 of the Ministry of Finance.
This early resignation mechanism allows the casino to continue operations, maintaining employment for its 589 staff and supporting the economic chain linked to gaming and tourism in the region.
The resolution was approved by Heidi Berner, Undersecretary of Finance and council president, Verónica Pardo, Undersecretary of Tourism, and Solange Berstein, president of the Financial Market Commission.
The Governor of Valparaíso, Rodrigo Mundaca, opposed the motion while Undersecretary of Regional Development, Francisca Perales, abstained.
Article 46 bis permits this option three years after its implementation, ensuring continued economic, legal and regulatory compliance. Obligations include payment of municipal bids, VAT, ticket taxes and the specific gaming tax, guaranteeing funds for both the municipality and regional government.

Projected gross revenue over the next three years exceeds $65.5bn with $29.2bn from the gaming tax, $27.7bn from VAT and $8.6bn from entry fees. The municipality will continue receiving the guaranteed annual economic offer of 831,123 UF.
Following authorisation a new bidding process will be initiated, with conditions set for minimum bids, tourism infrastructure and employee retention. Technical evaluation will involve both regional government and municipality to ensure feasible and effective projects.
Following a similar trend, Annexio has surrendered its Isle of Man B2C licence amid regulatory scrutiny, while KSA has intensified supervision of its gambling permit database to ensure accurate and verifiable licence holder data.
