PAGCOR donates more emergency vehicles to underserved communities
The latest recipients include Las Piñas City and six municipalities: Tacloban in Leyte, Busuanga in Palawan, San Manuel in Tarlac, Mexico in Pampanga, Kibawe in Bukidnon and Indang in Cavite.
Key points:
– PAGCOR has donated seven fully-equipped patient transport vehicles to Las Piñas City and six municipalities across the Philippines
– The vehicles include GPS navigation, medical oxygen, stretchers, wheelchairs and first aid kits to support emergency medical transport services
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has expanded its support for public health services by donating seven Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) to local government units (LGUs) across the country.
The turnover ceremony was held on 3 September 2025 at PAGCOR’s corporate office in Pasay City, led by Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco.
The new beneficiaries include Las Piñas City and the municipalities of Tacloban (Leyte), Busuanga (Palawan), San Manuel (Tarlac), Mexico (Pampanga), Kibawe (Bukidnon) and Indang (Cavite).
The initiative is part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s broader effort to strengthen emergency medical services in remote and underserved areas.
The PTVs are fully equipped with GPS navigation systems, stretchers, medical oxygen, wheelchairs and first aid kits, aiming to enable safer and faster transport of patients to nearby hospitals.
Good to know: PAGCOR has now provided a total of 51 emergency vehicles to LGUs, public hospitals, frontline agencies and military units nationwide
Commenting on the move, Tengco stated: “This is more than just a turnover of vehicles; it is about saving more lives. We hope to empower our LGUs to respond faster and more efficiently during medical emergencies.”
Busuanga Mayor Raymond Emil Cruz, one of the recipients, added: “Our island is large and some barangays are very far from the town centre. That is why this PTV is a very important help. We will ensure that many countrymen will benefit from it in the long run.”
The PTV donation comes amid PAGCOR’s broader regulatory and revenue activities. Recent reports indicate the agency collected PHP 69bn ($1.22bn) in licence fees from licensed online gaming operators between January and July 2025, with PHP 27.47bn allocated to nation-building programs.
PAGCOR has also been exploring artificial intelligence tools to enhance monitoring of gambling behaviour and detect fraudulent identification documents, as the agency continues efforts to combat illegal online gambling operations targeting Filipino players.
