The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) has underlined its recent role in the development and conduction of the 2025 National Student Survey on gambling, drugs and mental health.
Formally conducted each year by the Union of Students in Ireland (USI), this survey seeks to investigate gambling behaviours – alongside drug use and mental health – amongst university students in Ireland and has been developed in by the USI and Ulster University School of Biomedical Sciences in partnership with the GRAI.
Participation in the 15-minute-long survey has now been encouraged by the GRAI via a link on the regulator’s website, with all submissions remaining anonymous, participants will also receive optional entry into a prize draw.
It has been a busy summer for the GRAI, which officially relocated its offices in Early Q2, a move which was shortly followed by the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Belgian Gaming Commission in May.
Good to know: Earlier this week, Ireland unveiled new legislation which now allows players to block their bank cards from gambling sites as a method of self-exclusion
Shortly after, the regulator also signed a similar agreement with the region of Gibraltar for enhanced cross-border gambling regulation.
Elsewhere this month, over 200 stakeholders within the Irish gambling industry called for additional action against gambling harm following a recent report found that 80% of participants had struggled with financial difficulties stemming from gambling.
