Chumba, Stake.us Among Operators Leaving Indiana After Sweepstakes Ban
Most of the industry's largest sweepstakes casino operators have withdrawn from Indiana after the state's new prohibition took effect on July 1.
As Indiana’s sweepstakes casino ban took effect on July 1, many of the industry’s largest brands, including Chumba Casino, Stake.us, McLuck, and WOW Vegas, withdrew from the state.
In addition to Chumba, industry leader VGW has withdrawn all of its brands, including LuckyLand Slots, LuckyLand Casino, Global Poker, and United Slots.
Major Operators Complete Indiana Exit
Other major operators to withdraw include Sweepstakes Ltd. (Stake.us), B-Two Operations (McLuck, Hello Millions, Jackpota, Mega Bonanza, PlayFame, and SpinBlitz), and MW Services Ltd. (WOW Vegas, Rolla, and MetaWin).
Rather than fully exiting Indiana, Utech Solutions transitioned its brands, including Scarlet Sands, MrGoodwin, VegasWay, SweepShark, JackpotRabbit, Playtana, Sweepico, FireSevens, and DexyPlay, to entertainment-only Gold Coin play.
A1 Development similarly removed sweepstakes promotional play from Funrize, Fortune Wheelz, FunzCity, NoLimitCoins, StormRus,h and TaoFortune while continuing to offer Tournament Point (Gold Coins) gameplay.
Gambling Insider has also confirmed that several additional operators have ended sweepstakes play in Indiana, including Fliff Inc. (Fliff and Sidepot), Golden Hearts Inc. (Golden Hearts), Rolling Riches, Smiles Casino, Thrillz, and Dara Casino.
The departures follow the implementation of Indiana’s new sweepstakes casino law, which prohibits online sweepstakes games that use a dual-currency system. The legislation took effect on July 1 after being signed into law earlier this year.
Many operators began winding down sweepstakes play in the state during May and June. Examples include Blazesoft (Fortune Wins, Zula, Sportzino, Yay Casino, American Luck, Luck Party, Win Bonanza), Yellow Social (Pulsz, Pulsz Bingo), ARB Interactive (Modo), High 5 Entertainment (High 5 Casino), and Woopla Inc. (Funzpoints)
Despite the widespread exits, dozens of sweepstakes casino platforms still appeared to be accepting Indiana players as of July 2, with no geoblock or updated restricted-state language yet in place.
Hacksaw Games Also Reportedly Unavailable
The operator exits have also coincided with changes to game availability.
According to Sweepsy, Indiana players on online forums have reported losing access to Hacksaw Gaming games before July 1.
Hacksaw is among the most popular providers in the sweepstakes industry. Some of its popular titles include Wanted: Dead or a Wild, Le Bandit, Le Zeus, Chaos Crew, and Pickle Bandits.
Attention Shifts to Maine
Attention is now turning to Maine, where a similar sweepstakes casino ban takes effect on July 29. Several operators have already withdrawn from the market ahead of the ban’s implementation. Examples include Blazesoft, ARB, Woopla, and Yellow Social.
Louisiana is also expected to see additional operator exits before its sweepstakes casino ban takes effect on Aug. 1. However, many platforms had already withdrawn from the state earlier this year amid increased enforcement efforts by state officials.
