Once received, Elys’ licence will be valid for five years, effective 1 January 2023, when Ohio online sports betting legislation comes into effect.
In order to launch online sports betting in Ohio, Elys is still subject to obtaining all further required certifications and is required to pay licence fees.
Elys says it has commenced the programming of its technology platform to comply with betting specifications laid out by the Ohio Lottery.
The operator has also agreed to purchase 100 point-of-sale terminals and 100 self-service betting terminals for installation in Ohio.
Although it still needs to prove its proprietary suitability and meet continuous compliance requirements for the during of its licence, the company says it is committed to achieving this so it can commence operations in Ohio as soon as possible.
Alongside Ohio, the company also plans to commence operations in a second DC location, and two signed locations in Maryland. Elys Game Technology’s US mobile partnership with Lottomatica is also set to launch in 2023.
In its recent Q3 report, Elys reported a 19% B2C turnover increase and a 33% increase in NGR margin.
The report also highlighted an increase in disaggregated sportsbook performance of 19% compared to Q3 2021.
Earlier this year, the company announced a new partnership with District Hospitality, through which it now operates the BetDupont sportsbook in Washington, DC.
Situated in the prominent Dupont Circle area of Washington, DC, BetDupont is a stylish lounge bar offering both table and cigar service with Mediterranean/American fusion dining.
